Family Planning & Sexual Health
Advice on contraception and sexual health including coil fitting and provision of free condoms is provided at Ysbyty Aneurin Bevan Hospital at Ebbw Vale. It is run on the following days: Monday 9.30am to 12.30, Wednesday 9am – 12 and 2pm – 7pm, Friday 9.00 – 12.00 and 1.30 to 4pm
The clinic is also held at Tredegar Health Centre every Monday morning 9am to 11.30am
Antenatal Care
Routine antenatal check-ups by qualified midwives are held at Ysbyty Aneurin Bevan. The midwife also runs a weekly clinic at Tredegar Health Centre, every Tuesday morning. The midwife will contact you to arrange an appointment.
Child Health Surveillance Clinic
The Health Visitor is on site every 2nd and 4th Monday of the month. She can provide advice and weigh baby for you. Vacccinations for all children up to age of 5 are provided by practice staff on Mondays between 2.30pm – 4pm, appointments will be sent by the Child Health Department (not Tredegar Health Centre).
Vaccinations
Routine and travel vaccinations for all ages are available during surgery times by appointment with our nurses.
The practice runs an annual flu and penumococcal campaign usually at the beginning of October. Flu vaccines are available for people suffering with respiratory problems, heart or chronic renal problems, diabetes and anyone aged over 65. Pneumococcal vaccines are available for patients aged 65 years and over. Please ask at reception for more information.
Travel Vaccinations
The practice runs a travel vaccination clinic and can advise on the recommended vaccines for the area that you are travelling to. Some vaccines are not available on NHS and there may be a fee for the administration of certain vaccines, please ask at reception for further information.
Asthma Clinic
Regular check-ups and advice from practice nurses on lifestyle, inhaler techniques and medication. Appointment required
Coronary Heart Disease Clinic
If you suffer with any heart disease related problems you can arrange an appointment at our clinic where you will be monitored and receive support and advice on diet, lifestyle, medication. An appointment is required.
Diabetic Clinic
Your condition can be monitored and you will receive support and advice for many aspects including diet. If required you will be referred for diabetic eye screeening and foot care, please make an appointment to see our diabetes nurse.
Hypertensive Clinic
Clinics are held on various afternoons through the week, please arrange an appointment at reception. If you suffer with high blood pressure, you will be monitored: weight, blood pressure etc. and receive support and advice for any problems.
Cervical Screening Clinic
This clinic is nurse led, please make an appointment at reception
Phlebotomy Clinics/Blood Tests
Please arrange an appointment for any morning. Monday to Friday, 8am to 12 noon.
